December 2015

Besides the Christmas tree, the dinner table is where family and friends will gather for fellowship with one another and share the goodness of this holiday season. While you are decking the halls around your home, don’t forget about decking your dining table. Last week I attended the annual Deck the Tables event located at the Houston Design Center. I always leave this event inspired with great ideas for my clients.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare the perfect table setting.

  1. Go Formal! This is a great excuse to pull out the fancy China to make your family’s dinner an experience. Don’t panic if you don’t know how to set the dinnerware properly. I have you covered! IMG_9445
  2. Add plenty of fresh florals and candles as the center focal point. This will soften the tone of the room and create an atmosphere for warm dialogue. Be sure to keep the arrangements low so that everyone has good eye contact.
  3. Place name cards for each person at an assigned seat. This can also be personalized as a small gift.
  4. Type and print menus for each person.
  5. Serve up the yummy food!

Here are a few of my favorite tables from Deck the Tables.
